Call numbers (classification numbers)

The HKUST Library classifies all its materials by the Library of Congress classification system.

Class "H" is for the Social Sciences.

• H-HJ are general Social Sciences and Economics.
• HM-HX are Sociology.

Class DS is Asian history & civilization. China is in the DS700's.

Class GN is Anthropology.

Physical Locations

• Books  in classes A-L are located on LG4
• Books in classes M-Z are located on LG3.

The Library has lots of e-books. Use PowerSearch to find and access them from anywhere.  Here are the steps to get an e-book.

Example: Get an e-book about "project management" by someone named Samuel Mantel

1. Go to Library's homepage, choose the "PowerSearch" tab. Untick "Articles+", type in keywords, and click search button.

2. In the Results list, choose "Online Resources" to limit to e-books.

3. From the results list, Choose "Online Access".

4. A new tab will open. Click on the link under "View it".

Off campus?  You will be brought to the EZ Proxy login. Use your usual HKUST login and password. Details about EZ Proxy.

On campus, or after logging in via EZ Proxy: you will be brought straight to the vendor or publisher's site to read the book.

HKALL (港書網), Hong Kong Academic Library Link(香港高校圖書聯網)

• Search the collections of all the university libraries in Hong Kong
• Request books that are not available at HKUST.
• After your request is processed, the book will be delivered to HKUST's Circulation counter and you will receive an email to come pick it up.
• PG student's loan = 30 days.

JULAC Card

• Allows card holders to have access to other UGC-funded libraries.
• Apply online  or in person at the Circulation Counter
