Known Issues

HKALL holding libraries not listed: solution = refresh

Sometimes when you're signed in and looking at a full record, you may see the HKALL request link, but not the holding libraries.

This is a known issue. While the vendor solves it, the solution is to refresh the screen. In a PC environment, Ctrl-F5 is the quickest method.


Session Time-out at PowerSearch

For security and privacy purpose, PowerSearch result page will be cleared after being idle for 30 minutes.

Solution:

  1. Login to PowerSearch and use the "Save query" function
  2. Use the "Save record" function to save useful records

Sign in for better user experience (UX)

Signing in makes the system respond a bit better; it tends to require refreshing the screen less.

If you are signed-in, you will be able to automatically see important information in the Get It section of a record.

  • Request option (if an item is checked out)
  • HKALL request link (if you're in HKALL)
  • Available loan period for your status
    E.g. when not signed in a print book will show: policy "Loanable"; when signed in, a UG will see 4 weeks, PG 8 weeks, etc.
