This guide is created to support students taking MGMT 4000: Doing Business in Emerging Markets. It contains some major library and Internet resources that will be helpful in completing the individual paper of this course.
To research a company, 1) visit its website, 2) search for books about the company using PowerSearch, 3) use the sources introduced in this guide for company history, financials, analyst reports, news, etc., and 4) analyze the industry and country environments relevant to the company.
Emerging markets across the globe, i.e. China, India, Russia, South Korea, Brazil, South Africa, etc., are growing with their economic influence and political power. This course intends to examine the challenges and opportunities that risking and rapidly changing emerging markets have provided for various business corporations, i.e. multinational corporations, domestic state-owned enterprises, entrepreneurial firms. It delineates the complexity of emerging markets with respect to their economic, technological, political, social and cultural environments and how they influence corporations in a wide range of industries.
