Using E-books: iRead eBook

E-books for research use.

iRead eBook Quick Facts

It mainly offers Chinese books published in Taiwan including philosophy, religion, natural sciences, applied sciences, social sciences, history and geography, language and literature, and arts. The books are available for online reading or for downloading to personal computers and mobile devices.

Create an iRead eBook Account

To set up a personal account:

  • At the top of the page, click the 登入 link.
  • The Create Account page appears. You may choose to sign up with your Facebook / Google account or to create a new account with a valid email address. Then, click the login button. 
  • When you sign up for iRead eBook, an email will be sent to the address you provided. This email includes a link that you'll need to click to confirm your account. Click on the link to verify your account. You will be automatically logged in as a personal user.

Searching and Navigating E-book on iRead eBooks

 There are several ways to search for e-books on iRead eBook:

  1. The blue area: Perform a keyword search of the iRead eBook database using the search box. Also, you can use the advanced search options to narrow your search by identifying specific criteria, such as dates, content categories, or subjects.
  2. The orange area: Browse by 圖書館全部書籍, Magazine and 知識牆.
  3. The green area: Browse by Category, select a category on the left column.
  4. The violet area: Browse by Library Collections.

To view e-books online:

  • Click 線上看 to read the book in the iRead eBook Viewer tool. 

  • A window will pop up and you can view the book online!

 

Printing E-Book Pages

Up to 30% of an e-book can be printed from within the iRead eBook Viewer tool.

To print eBooks pages:

  1. Open the e-book in the iRead eBook Viewer.

  2. Click the settings icon , and then select Print .

  3. The Print menu is shown.

  4. Enter the page number you wish to print. The number of pages allowing for printing depends on copyright restrictions of the title.

 

 

Download an Entire E-book in iRead eBook

You may choose to download an eBook to your computer or mobile device and read it offline at a later time. iRead eBook is required for offline viewing. This free software can be downloaded from this link.

To download an e-book:

  1. Log in to your iRead eBook account.


     
  2. Click 借書 to download the book


     
  3. Open iRead eBook.
  4. Click the Download button.



    *If you didn't log in, you are prompted to do so.  

     
  5.  Then, click on the book title you want to download. 



  6. It shows you the downloading status. 


     
  7. The book is then added to the bookshelf, double click the book cover to start viewing the book.



 

Airiti Reader App

Airiti Reader App is an e-book reader application for mobile devices, it supports both Android and iOS.

QR code: 

  • Download and install the Airiti Reader App using Google Play (for Android) and App Store (for IOS). Once installed, click to open the Airiti Reader App.
  • You will be prompted to register an account. If you don't have one yet, create one by clicking on "Create an account."
  • Search for the eBook and select the option to download or to view the entire book online.
