This guide is developed for CHEM 4691 students as a starting point to finding relevant information for the Capstone Research. It is not a comprehensive subject guide but lists selective materials that are most useful for locating information in Chemistry.

• Clearly identify your research topic and  develop your research question
• Develop search statements using advanced search techniques
• Revise your search terms and strategy to expand or narrow your results
• Use Powersearch to find books and articles
• Use Databases to find peer-reviewed literature related to your topic
• Use Interlibrary Loan to get materials that are not available in the HKUST Library
• Use Search Engines to find web information
• Carefully evaluate the information you find for usefulness and quality
• Use the appropriate Citation Style to document and cite sources
• Ask a librarian for help
