New PowerSearch: Important Dates

This guide will help users get ready for the cut-over to the new PowerSearch in June and July 2017

Change is Coming!

All the UGC supported libraries will switch to the new system at the same time. So, there will be service disruptions for a short period (“the cut-over”), from June 5 to mid- July. 

What does it mean for you, the user?

Mark these dates!

June 5: Last day to request HKALL. Use Interlibrary Loan to request books after this date.

June 15: Return all HKALL & JULAC books.

July 11: Last day to

  • Export (email or save) “My Reading History”. Use this MyAccount interface.
    • My Reading History cannot be migrated, you must save or email it.
  • Clear all overdue fines.
  • Make note of your saved searches.
    • Previously saved searches cannot be migrated or exported.

July 12: System frozen.

  • No online renewal. Make renewal requests in person, via email (lbcirc@ust.hk) or phone (2358-6772).
  • All unfilled "hold" request cancelled. Re-submit after the new system goes live in early July

Mid July: New PowerSearch up and running, including HKALL!

What is new PowerSearch?

The Library Catalog "PowerSearch" will get a new look in this summer 2017. Not only at HKUST, but at all 8 UGC-funded university libraries (known as JULAC) as well. We are migrating into one single online platform for you to access, retrieve, and request print, shared electronic, and digital resources from the 8 UGC libraries.
